How to Use the Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) Calculator
The Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) Calculator estimates the regular withdrawals you can make from your mutual fund investment while ensuring its longevity. This tool benefits retirees and individuals seeking steady income from their investments.
Follow these steps to use the SWP Calculator:
Step 1: Enter Initial Investment Amount (₹). Start by inputting the total amount you invested in the mutual fund. The initial investment serves as your starting corpus. Example: ₹10,00,000
Step 2: Set the SWP Amount (₹). Specify the fixed amount you want to withdraw at regular intervals. You will receive this amount each month, quarter, or chosen frequency. Example: ₹20,000 per month
Step 3: Choose Withdrawal Frequency. Select how often you want withdrawals. Options include:
- Monthly
- Quarterly
- Half-Yearly
- Yearly
Your selection determines how frequently money is transferred from your fund to your account.
Step 4: Enter the Duration of SWP (Years or Months). Specify the duration of the withdrawals. You can enter the duration in years or months, depending on the frequency selected. Example: 5 years or 60 months
Step 5: Input Expected Returns (% p.a.) Enter the estimated annual return your investment will generate. This calculation helps determine how much your remaining corpus grows, even as you withdraw funds.
- Typical range: 6% – 12%, depending on the fund type (e.g., debt, hybrid, equity).
Step 6: Calculate Your SWP. Click the “Calculate SWP” button to generate results and analyze how your withdrawals impact your investment over time.
